Today, we’ve pleased to announce the launch of the very first connected building on the RCN network.
The Tea Factory based at 82 Wood St, Liverpool, L1 4DQ now hosts 100Gbps of digital connectivity onto the RCN network in this mixed use development.
The Tea Factory is a disused former 64,079 sq ft tea warehouse in the ropewalks area of Liverpool and is owned by the developer Urban Splash.
Baltic Broadband were the first provider to go live this week, connecting multiple business customers with several 1Gbps and 10Gbps leased lines.
Mersey Fibre, our newest broadband provider also enabled 30 apartments at the top of the tea factory this week with high speed broadband, with apartment owners, who’ve struggled for years with poor performing speeds, now having access to broadband packages up to 10Gbps.
Yesterday, we also onboarded LCR Play, which is not an internet connection, it’s a private games developer network that connects up the various games companies around the Liverpool City Region.
The Game Assembly, who have just taken up 8000sqft of office space at the Tea Factory is the first to go live on LCR Play.
For nearly 15 years, The Game Assembly (TGA) has been shaping the next generation of game developers, stating that access to high speed digital internet connectivity (provided by Baltic Broadband) and access to LCR Play was instrumental to taking space at the Tea Factory.
The connection to the Tea Factory in Liverpool represents a major milestone in the roll-out of the RCN network and is now live on our beta trials.
